BartaBangla Desk :: Police have pressed charges against 364 persons in seven cases over last year’s attacks on Buddhist Viharas at Ramu, Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.
Chargesheets in four cases accusing 272 were submitted on Monday, Cox’s Bazar court police Inspector Mizbah Uddin told the media.
He said charges were pressed against 92 others in three other cases on Sunday.
Two cases each had been filed with Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ukhia police and one with Ramu.
On them, 193 people are currently behind bars in these cases.
Miscreants set fire to and ransacked Buddhist establishments in Ramu on Sep 29 last year.
Similar attacks took place at Teknaf and Ukhia Upazilas the following day.
Nineteen Viharas suffered damage during the attacks and as many cases were filed.
The government had already repaired the damaged Viharas.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to go to Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday to open these places of worship.
